COVERED BRIDGE TOUR PLANNED IN MONTGOMERY CANCELED!!

ARTS FESTIVAL WILL BE HELD IN TROY AUGUST 11

The covered bridge tour planned by the Jay Peak Area Association for August 4 has been canceled. The Vermont Covered Bridge Society is invited to the Arts Festival in Troy
The cancellation was announced to Joe Nelson, VCBS president, by an e-mail from Jim McKimm of the Jay Peak Association, the sponsoring organization.
Said McKimm: "It is with great regret that I must inform you that the Covered Bridge event on August 4 in Montgomery has been canceled. We have had very little cooperation with the town in getting done what needed to be and at this late date, cannot depend on them coming through. We will, however, try to work it into our arts festival next year.
"We would like you [the VCBS] to join us at the Arts Festival on August 11th in Troy. It is going rather well. We will have artists, crafters, food, and live entertainment. Vermont fiddlers and the renowned barbershop Green Mountain Chorus. We are estimating 500+ plus for the day. We will offer driving maps of all the bridges, on both sides of the mountain.
"There is more information at www.jaypeakvermont.com/summerfest.html. Again, my sincerest apologies and hope we can still get something going up here with the covered bridges."

The VCBS had been invited to set up a special booth at the Montgomery Covered Bridge Tour and the invitation is extended by the Jay Peak Association to set up the booth with covered bridge and membership information at the Troy event. VCBS members willing to set up and run the booth are asked to contact VCBS Secretary Ruth Nelson at 802 899-2093 or at jcnelson@together.net, or P.O. Box 267, Jericho, VT 05465.
